Propane Road Show 2010

On Friday July 30, 2010, the Propane Road Show was presented by the Lake Michigan Clean Cities Consortium, Fire ‘Em Up, and Lake County Fielders Stadium in Zion, Illinois. The event took place in a parking lot adjacent to the stands and field. This annual event featured exhibits from local propane technology groups as well as propane-powered vehicles and equipment.

Expert speakers at the event represented a range of propane related topics. Some topics covered were: how propane reduces petroleum dependence and fueling costs; what projects and funding opportunities exist in Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana; and what options exist in conversions, from the dealer, and off-road equipment.

Vehicles on display included Winthrop Harbor Police Department’s propane-powered squad car, converted vehicles by Fire ‘Em Up, and ROUSH's Propane Powered Ford F-250. Amerigas and Ferrellgas were on-hand to provide information on fueling options and had a fueling system on display to demonstrate how easy it is to fuel with propane.

The event also had three celebrity presenters in attendance. The celebrity presenters were T.J. Zizzo, Top Fuel NHRA Drag Racer, Tom Nowatzke, NFL Star with the Detroit Lions & Baltimore Colts, and Mike Ditka, NFL Hall of Fame Player and Coach

T.J. Zizzo was able to give a demonstration of his Top Fuel Dragster which was loud enough to make Ditka and Nowatzke jump in their chairs. Zizzo also mentioned that he is in the process of working with “Fire ‘Em Up to convert his truck to run on propane as well. Both Tom Nowatzke and Mika Ditka mentioned that they want to see an improvement in our dependence on petroleum.

After the event, guests were invited to watch a double header between the Lake County Fielders and Winnipeg Goldeyes.

A special thanks to the sponsors that helped make the event possible, and another special thanks to those that attended the event and made it a great day for propane and baseball.

Fire Em Up Inc. an Illinois corporation was founded in May of 1999 by President Jeffrey R. Bach. The company has come a long way since its humble beginnings of one employee and a service truck traveling Illinois and Wisconsin servicing the Propane industry. The company grew to travel in ten states servicing and repairing propane powered light and medium duty trucks. As a conversion center and manufacturer, Fire Em Up Inc. now enjoys a global presence in the alternative fuels industry. They manufacture their own products for diesel powered equipment and carry a full line of products for gasoline powered equipment.
