Coalition Meeting and Idle Reduction Update: June 15, 2006
Presented by Chicago Area Clean Cities and sponsored by AUTOTHERM and the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, this picnic lunch meeting examined simple and effective ways of saving fuel and money through idle reduction in fleets. The event was held outdoors at Churchill Woods Forest Preserve in Lombard, Illinois.
Coalition member Don Boyer of AUTOTHERM presented information on AUTOTHERM's energy-recovery-based idle reduction device. Matt Stewart from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County talked about the District's anti-idling directive, implemented in early 2006 to reduce idling of vehicles and equipment. We discussed pending legislation related to idle reduction and had a brief CACC meeting to present highlights from the 2006 national Clean Cities conference and plans for upcoming coalition events.
